Private - New Recruits for trial period of 90 days, not a full member and may include persons recruited specifically for competitive team play that may have no desire to become a full member or may have other responsibilities, but wish to play competitively.  This member will not have access to private discussions regarding operation of the community, nor will they have the ability to vote on any issue.  See Note 1.

Private First Class - Full member with all the rights and privileges therein.

Corporal - A member of 6 months after achieving the rank of Private First Class.

Sergeant - A member of 1 year that has achieved the rank of Corporal.

Staff Sergeant - A member of 1.5 years that has distinguished themselves as a leader in the community and has the desire to take on more responsibility.  A member of this rank is responsible for the education of new recruits into the clan.  This means showing them where all of our rules and policies are and helping them learn about the operation of our resources.

Gunnery Sergeant - A member promoted from no less than Corporal to help with coordination of and management of a competitive team.  Primary duties include practice coordination and match scheduling.  See Note 2.

First Sergeant - This member has been with us for 2 years and has achieved Sergeant.

Master Gunnery Sergeant - A technical position for management of competitive team ethics and recruitment practices.  This rank ensures that competitive team members stay within the rules of the league/ladder the team is playing on and manages new recruits to expand or maintain that team.  If those members fail to follow the rules after being warned, this rank also has the right to kick them from the team.  Kicking from clan only if they are ranked Private.

Sergeant Major - A Staff Sergeant who has indicated willingness to manage the clan's roster, keeping contact information updated and maintaining the clan roster module on the website will be promoted to this rank.

Warrant Officer - A member promoted specifically to take charge of a game server or servers, or to manage or assist in website development.  This member must be promoted from Corporal or above.  This is a technical position only, this person is not responsible for admins, training or anything not directly related to the technical operation of a server or website.  See Note 2.

Second Lieutenant - This rank is awarded to members with 3 years served.

First Lieutenant - The News officer.  This person will keep the news on the community site and IRC up to date.  Trying to keep something fresh in the news.  Whether it be game reviews or just recent events or changes in the community.  Must be promoted from First Sergeant or above.

Captain - The Site Maintenance Officer.  Responsible for updating ranks, groups and maintaining the database with periodic optimization and repair.  Promoted from Second Lieutenant or above.

Major - This rank is responsible for non-clan member admin.  They will bring up new potential admin and ensure that new admin are trained in our rules and how to implement them.  Which wouldn't be very well defined if not for ravean.  Promoted from Second Lieutenant or above.

Lieutenant Colonel - This is as high as you can go without taking on additional responsibility in the clan.  This rank is for members of 4 years.

Colonel - The person in charge of maintaining our website.  Promoted from Second Lieutenant or above.

Major General - Staff rank responsible for minor operational decisions.  These members are well respected and trusted to make decisions regarding day to day operations.  These are things that do not impact large items such as the code of the clan, rules of administering servers, forum regulations, or anything major that is likely to impact the growth of the community as a whole.

General - The leader of the community.  This member is responsible for managing the donation account and funds contributed to the clan and keeping the balance sheet at zero through expansion or controlling costs.  This member is also responsible for keeping the community on track for the future.  This person is also the bottom line when the community is split on a decision.  This member has to be willing and able to do it all here.

Honorary General - This rank is reserved for spouses and partners.  We all know how that works...lol.

Retired General - This rank is specifically for the founders of this clan.  Achnack and PlucheMoume, and a couple others that, if they should return, will automatically be reintegrated.  Due to the fact that this clan would not exist if not for the efforts of the two mentioned and a few others, these people carry a special position within this community.  This does not mean that they can't carry on responsibilities inherent in other ranks or that they are not active members of the community.  It is simply recognition of who they are and how we got here.

NO RANKED MEMBER IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN ANY OTHER!  THE PURPOSE OF THE RANK SYSTEM IS TO CREATE A STRUCTURE TO MAINTAIN THE DAY TO DAY OPERATION OF THE CLAN AND TO ENSURE IT CONTINUES TO OPERATE AS TIME GOES ON!  DECISIONS THAT IMPACT COMMUNITY OPERATION ON A WHOLE CANNOT BE MADE BY ONE PERSON ALONE!  NOR CAN THIS COMMUNITY SURVIVE ALONE!  THIS IN INHERENT IN THE NAME "COMMUNITY"!

ONLY MEMBERS OF HIGHER RANK CAN PERFORM THE DUTIES OUTLINED FOR LOWER RANKING MEMBERS!  NO LOWER RANKING MEMBER WILL BE ASKED OR EXPECTED TO TAKE ON RESPONSIBILITY THEY DO NOT WANT!  SPECIAL EXCEPTIONS CAN BE MADE FOR LOWER RANKING MEMBERS THAT WANT OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES, BUT IT DOES NOT MEAN THEY WILL GAIN A HIGHER RANK BECAUSE OF THOSE RESPONSIBILITIES!

THE MAJOR GENERAL(S) AND GENERAL ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL DUTIES BELOW THEIR RANK, AS THESE ARE THE PRIMARY DIRECTIONAL LEADERSHIP OF THE COMMUNITY!  THEY ARE NOT DICTATORS AND CANNOT DICTATE POLICY!  THEY ONLY HELP TO HOLD THINGS TOGETHER AND GIVE THE COMMUNITY DIRECTION, JUST LIKE A PRESIDENT OR PARLIAMENTARY GOVERNMENTAL SYSTEM!

NOTES:
1) Privates are recruits in essence.  They can be members of competitive teams or RPG guilds that have no real interest in participating in the community at large.  Their actions can get them immediately kicked from the clan or guild should they not follow the same code and rules the rest of us do and represent the community in a respectable manner.  These members can be promoted to Private pending the nomination by a fellow member who believes they represent the community so well as to deserve full membership, regardless of whether they choose to ever act on the rights and privileges of full membership.  Participation in the forums is a must for advancement beyond Private.  This was agreed upon in our creation of the Code of code.Terminate.

2) Members within these ranks are in a special category.  In the case of Warrant Officer the member may have been promoted from Private or above.  If their particular area of responsibility is ever removed, their rank will be reverted to an appropriate rank based on their length of membership, or desire to take on other responsibilities.  These members can advance beyond this rank if the conditions are met for the particular rank in question.
